Title: A Variational formulation of the cumulant generating function for the time-averaged quantity in non-equilibrium systems Abstract: We recently reported a formulation for calculating the cumulant generating function of the time-averaged quantity [1,2]. This formulation involves (i) a variational formula for the cumulant generating function, which covers the so-called additivity principle for fluctuating hydrodynamics, and (ii) a derivative formula of the cumulant generating function, which is a counterpart of fluctuation response relations in equilibrium statistical mechanics.
